Happy New Home for FMS155

Happy Sunday Everyone!

I created this card for the Freshly Made Sketches 155 this week. Have been using my Holiday Home Stamp Set and the coordinating Homemade Holiday Framelit Dies in preparation for my October “Classes on Your Time” Kit to be released on October 1st and diverted a bit to create this based on the sketch this week:

FMS Final 155-001

Hope you like it! Would be a great housewarming card and also, with a sentiment switched out, could be a great card for any occasion!

Freaky Friends for Clean & Simple Sketch

Hi Everyone!

Happy Friday! Well, almost all of the boxes are unpacked, house and garage organized …. we are exhausted 🙂 I do not know why we are in such a hurry …. we are retired!! Guess it has not hit us yet!

Saw the sketch FTL 309 for Clean & Simple and created a card that I thought fit the bill ….. I love using sketches to spur creativity and card making.

Here is the card I came up with. The Freaky Friends is an adorable stamp set, ripe for oodles of cards for Halloween!

More New Technique Workshop Cards

As promised, here are the three additional cards I created last Saturday at the Fun Shop with Cheri Utsler, I talked about here. Love how they turned out!

The first is a beautiful black and white photo of Lake Michigan. The water is colored with Coastal Cabana Blendabilities and the photo is torn into three.

Lake MI Tear Color

The second card is of San Xavier Mission located a little south of Tucson in AZ. I embossed over it with a non-SU! embossing folder (sorry do not know the name but may be Carte Postale??) and then spread a rust colored medium over the photo to get the additional dimension and color to the photo. At first I was not crazy about what I did but after completing the card, it was one of my favorites!

San Xavier photo emboss

The last card is a beautiful black and white photo, embossed and then colored with Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Up! Blendabilities. Cheryl Kallio colored hers first and I loved the results and tried to replicate her design. I chose not to put a sentiment at the bottom but you easily could put anything on the card.

Try your hand at these techniques! I’d love to see what you create 🙂

Learning New Techniques

Hi Everyone;

I’ve settled into “retirement” (I put that in quotes because I will still be working as a Nurse Practitioner when I return home to Michigan for visits!) in Tucson, AZ in a fabulous community – Saddlebrooke. They have a very active Papercrafters Group which I have joined and I had the pleasure of attending a Fun shop – a Saturday afternoon spent learning new and fun techniques from one of the group members. Cheri Utsler, a very talented paper crafter, taught us a couple different techniques and ones I had not tried before – embossing photos, tearing and also coloring photos with our Blendabilities (Stampin’ Up’s! Alcohol based markers which are fabulous!). Cheri provided us with the instruction and beautiful photographs – most of which were black and white – matte finish photos to do as we pleased. Here are 3 of the 6 cards I created …. I will post the other three tomorrow!

The first one was a black and white photo of a fall scene with leaves on the ground. I used Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Calypso Coral Blendabilities to color the leaves and ran it through the Big Shot using the Woodgrain embossing folder.

hello Fall photo emboss

The next card highlights how you can use a beautiful photo without changing it and add texture by running it through an embossing folder. I used the Big Shot and Honeycomb Embossing Folder on this card.

Dragonfly emboss

The last card for today took a beautiful black and white photo of daisies and I chose to color them with the Daffodil Delight Blendabilities, choosing 2 different shades of markers. What do you think?

I am really excited to get into a more regular routine of posting, sharing and inspiring. I hope you join me along the way!

My style is relaxed and inclusive 🙂 Join me either in person at my next All-Occasion Card Class scheduled for Tuesday, October 7th in Tucson from 2PM – 4PM (details can be found HERE) or stamp with me anywhere, anytime with my “Classes on Your Time” card making kit option – the next kit is due out October 1st (watch for details soon) but I still have a few kits left from September (read about it here!).

That’s it for today! I always love to hear what you think … let me know!
